Get Inspired–2!

10 May Get Inspired–2!

Had a different topic to write for the month, but could not resist prioritizing this, after seeing my year old daughter’s daily progress.

Her simple lifestyle with basic needs and very basic demands – food, sleep and regular outing is indeed a life lesson. And she is continuously busy with activities during the day (sometimes in the night as well!). Give it a thought. Will we be really very busy throughout the day, if we have similar basic needs?.

Simple things have observed on a daily basis, which has broader meaning for life. Some samples below:
1. Never a single!. Any two-item need to be banged with each other and that creates a sound. And they need not be of the same type/material. She cross the length and breadth of the house to find two different objects and never felt short of one.
2. Open up !. Open every box, container, bag and even wallet. Everything needs to be opened fully to get to know the contents. The analysis of these contents is very detailed and sometimes takes hours to complete the task.
3. Creativity! Same play items and books given every day. But they are played differently on every occasion. New ways and means to play those items are found every day.
4. Practice. Repeat. Practice. The words ‘good morning’, ‘namaste’, ‘tata-bye-bye’ is just a sound for her. While, having said this continuously with actions, they are repeated effortless and on right time.
5. Try, Try and Try !. When something is not working the way she wants, she tries multiple times. If not successful, she move around and do something else, before coming back and trying it again!. And this goes for hours or even days, sometimes.

And if you apply the corporate learning on these samples, these are exactly considered as the differentiators between the ‘Exceed Expectations’ vs ‘Meet Expectations’.

To re-iterate above into adult qualities, which are expected by the corporate are:
1. Expand your imagination with the resources (men & material) available to you. The combinations are endless and the outcomes could be fascinating.
2. Have the inquisitiveness to get deep into the topic/subject. And if required, do it more than once – it will strengthen your understanding.
3. Anything could become monotonous. You need to make your own environment, interesting. And continuous improvement is the key.
4. Practice, everything you learn, until you master it and can do – with just the sound of it.
5. Keep the momentum running on your passion. Divert yourself in-between, but do come back to your original goal.

Above all, keep smiling – the biggest inspiration one should get from these toddlers.
